Design for wet hands

Notes from testing a sailing app on a real boat: big targets, one-thumb gestures, and why contrast matters more at sea.

Testing in a meeting room lied to us. On deck, the screen was wet, the sun was low and the boat never stopped moving.

What I learned

We made every target larger, moved every key action under the thumb and doubled the contrast. The app got calmer, not busier.
