The boss of this dungeon
Owners who opened the app once a month, dreading it.
Designing for 6 a.m.
Café owners check their numbers standing up, before opening. We designed the home screen for that moment: three numbers and one suggestion, readable at arm’s length.
Less, then less again
The old app had 46 reports. The new one has 5, and a search box for the rest. Nobody has asked for the other 41 back.
We ran the pilot with nine cafés in Edinburgh and kept a shared notebook on every counter.
